Overview of ILT Events, Tracks, and Sessions

ILT is organized into a three-level hierarchy consisting of Events, Tracks, and Sessions. An easy way to visualize this hierarchy is to compare it to a filing cabinet. Events are like the filing cabinet itself. Tracks are like the cabinet's drawers. Sessions are like the file folders within the drawers.

Events

Events are highest level in the ILT hierarchy. Generally they are named for the topic covered during training. An ILT Event can have one or more Tracks.

Tracks

Tracks are the second level in the ILT hierarchy. They are typically used identify either different audiences (Sales, Customer Service) or locations (NC or FL) or for organizing Sessions by audience, location, or date. Tracks can have one or more ILT Sessions.

Sessions are the third level in the ILT hierarchy and they are used to specify items such as the date and time the ILT Event takes place, Location, Instructors, and Session Properties (if applicable).

Quick Sessions

There are also Quick Sessions, which are standalone Events outside of this hierarchy. A Quick Session is an ILT Session that does not need to be associated with an Event or Track. Think of Quick Sessions as one-time meetings that need to be tracked.
